Hi Andrea,

I know you asked this in June...but it's my understanding that there is a specific gene that decides if dogs go grey or not. Some dogs do earlier than others and some don't at all. My dog Dooley is a blue merle and he started getting grey in the face very early..not only in his face..his feet too. I used to have some links to good sites discusing color genetics in dogs in my favorites...I'll see if I can find them and post a couple for you to check out.

I can't wait to learn more from you great people. We just got back from a doga (dog/yoga) seminar in San Fran. It was amazing.

Atlas has had a lot of tummy troubles over the years (as my vet bills will attest, LOL), but ever since I switched him to raw in Feb, he has had almost no problems at all. Additionally, I am noticing that his teeth are much whiter, his usual spring skin allergies seem reduced this year, and his ears are staying cleaner. Fingers crossed that this continues. He had some serious neck troubles this year and his regular vet was suspecting Wobblers. I took him to Dr. Chattigre for some chiro work and he was back to normal quickly. I would definitely recommend her.

It could have something to do with the lines that she came from. With fawn great danes, some lines have masks that go grey at earlier ages than others.
