- welcome. tell us a bit about yourself.
- I've been "in dogs" for about 15 years, and making a [meager] living training people to train their dogs for about 12.
My training approach changed a great deal 5 years ago when I realized that I was at my wits end, and needed help with a very difficult "teenage" dog I owned. At that time I discovered Dawn Jecs and her unique foundation training program. She changed my life with dogs dramatically as I learned her training program. Rider and I survived his adolocent years, and although he remains challenging in many ways, at least we now have a fairly "peaceable kingdom" on my property near Ridgefield WA. My students have also benefited greatly from the changes in my training approach.
I moved back to the greater Portland area in 2007 to be near my aging parents, and to build Unsinkable Dogs: K9 Warm Water Swim Center. I live on 2+ acres near the Clark County Event Center.
In a previous life I did a lot of bicycling, hiking, and gardening. These days I do a lot with dogs. I've done competition Obedience, Agility, Rally, Flyball, and trained a bit in freesytle.
I'm thrilled to be back in the burbs of Portland, and to be opening Unsinkable Dog, a much needed service for this community.
