Black Ribbon....
I am greatly saddened to inform fellow Cavalier-lovers that John Owens suddenly passed away this recent Sunday. Many would know him from when he and his wife Carol were active with their Labrador Retrievers in the field, show r...
Hello! I am Sandra, married to Mike (31+ years), mother to Colin (25), Kyle (23) and new daughter-in-law Mirana, & Brittany (just turned 21 Nov 6th, do you know how old I'm feeling today?!?). Yes, we are empty nesters - I love it and hate it! We enjoy our Mt. Hood cabin, and traveling. Photography is a passion - especially my dogs, family, and underwater (but only in warm tropical water with the bright fishes!), and I’m a bit of a computer geekette (with a beast of a new pyooter!). I keep busy with some volunteer work, my dogs and puppies, going to dog shows, and dog and social club functions. I belong to several dog clubs, a local Red Hat group, and a garden club, and enjoy the monthly “play day” downtown at Urban Fauna with other Cavaliers and their owners (when I can get there).
Introduce Your Pets
I have Cavaliers and we just lost our last, ancient Labrador (RIP Kippy); I've been a dog breeder, trainer & exhibitor for 30+ years. the full time herd around here is Tilly, Phoebe, JoJo, Tater and baby Birdie, and a litter of puppies born August 30th. We also have a 150 gallon aquarium with huge Cichlids, and a 15 y/0 Senegal Parrot (very respected by the dogs!).
Do you have a special skill, idea, or talent to share with us?
I like the idea of being a part of and supporting the greater Portland-area dog community. I am a community liaison & information person for one of the regional specialty (one breed) clubs, and hope to be able to learn about the doggie-goings-on in our metro area.
How did you find us?
Barbara Roach (Barbara and Ruby) knows I am "doggie" and thought I might enjoy the group! (and she was correct; thanks, Barbara)
Will read and agree to be responsible and accountable for pdxdog™.com community and advertising terms of service under the Notes Tab.
The Columbia River Cavalier Club had their summer Fun Match (at the Animal Enrichment Center in Vancouver) Saturday June 13th, and we had fun! It was a good turn-out, with some awfully cute and pretty and handsome puppies and adults. I took Miss Birdie, entering her in the 12-18 month puppy bitch class, and she won her class, and then won Best of Opposite Sex to Best In Match!! Yay Birdie!!
She won a couple of really neat toys, too, unfortunately her daddy nabbed one of them right away, they all had fun with it! (I saved the 'chipmunks in the log' toy just for Birdie, tho.)
I will be updating Birdie's webpage later today - after I finish doing the match photos and mailing them to our club secretary - if anyone wants to see more of Birdie -
Hi, Sandra: I *love* all your photos!!! I think I met you once at a dog show when I was a vendor. You gave me a brochure. It's great to see you on pdxdog. ~ Connie ;-)
So far our food is going to be sold at Meat for cats and dogs (on Burnside), hopefully we will get some more stores to carry it soon. If your in town and want a free sample just let me know. I could try to bring you a sample or along with the food for sale at Meat we are planning to give them some free samples to give to customers.
I miss having a puppy, wish I could have one now, but don't have the time for one yet.

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a good christmas! And HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Visit our online christmas card - http://www.darkstarfamily.com/ChristmasLetter08.htm
I have been advised that it would not be fair to other trainers on this site if I posted to my post. I have been advised that it would be unprofessional to give away, what they make a living doing. I do see their point and I completely understand. It would be unwise for me to post what I am paid to do. In my mind the better the start the better the life of the dog. I do have classes that go over all the 10 stupid things, so if you have specific questions about your pup I guess it would be ok to give tips though.
Thanks anyway
