I just read the article about the abused pit bull, Oreo that was euthanized and it breaks my heart. My dog Stormy, is probably part pit bull (although I didn't tell my insurance agent that). I found her abandoned on the street during a terrible wi...

About 10 years ago, I started volunteering at the Oregon Humane Society. This was just about the time they were breaking ground on their brand new facility. My special project was to go through the society's archives and organize all the historica...

Great park for dogs in NE Portland.

For those folks who live in NE Portland in the Concordia, Piedmont or St. John's area, Kelly Point Park is a great place to take your dog. The best time is early in the morning year round. Lots of green spaces for the dogs to run and roam and two rivers for them to splash around. It is not technically an off leash park but it is generally so quiet in the morning hours, you won't bother anyone if your dog is off leash. Just be respectful of others and pick up after your dog.

Don't forget our non-human friends this holiday!

Donate some old blankets to the Oregon Humane Society or give a cash donation to an animal worthy cause like The Pong Fund or Dove Lewis.

RIP Oreo

I just read the article about the abused pit bull, Oreo that was euthanized and it breaks my heart. My dog Stormy, is probably part pit bull (although I didn't tell my insurance agent that). I found her abandoned on the street during a terrible winter storm. She had been abused and she was aggressive. But 14 years later she is a happy member of my family. I wish every dog had a happy ending. These poor creatures have no voice. And it is particularly heart-breaking when you hear of another pit bu… Continue

Hi Susan...Thanks for the congrats, it's been a long road. Bo's book is the first memoir written by a dog to ever be published in non-fiction. It originally started out as a x-mas present for me from my husband back in 2006. I thought it was so cute and funny I found him a literary agent and then in 2008 Bo put paw to paper with Kensington Books. Bad To The Bone was released Oct. 1st. I took a look at your site, very cool. I will definitely order one of your books, We writers need to stick together.

Thanks! You can tell us about your cool book in your profile. And in any groups you'd like, just not in a big promotional way.
I think it's great you wrote a book. I want to know more about it. You could blog about writing it as well.

Hi Susan,
Welcome to pdxdog.com. Your book looks really interesting. Thanks for joining us. Everyone who is posting a "commercial" member picture is an advertiser on pdxdog, since it's part of a business promotion. The ad deal of the century is up still, I haven't had time to change the Basic Deal. Would you consider advertising your book in our MarketPlace, then you can use your site to promote your book, write about it, use it for your member picture etc. Your ads are click throughs. Go to the Advertise Page and let me know what you think, OK?

Your animals sound wonderful. I hope you have a great time with us. I'd love to know more about your book and I bet everyone else would as well.
