Am I just crazy or is oregon dog rescue no longer on here? Dede I think you also adopted a dog from them..do you know what happened to them? I got a voicemail from them asking how bella was and was going to respond on here! Sad :(

Dede- How are things going today with little nina? She is adorable. She growled at my chi also when I was holding her but hopefully it is only until she gets used to them. :) keep us posted.

- MY name is Dana. I have FOUR dogs that I adore!! My husband and I recently got married and are looking forward to starting a family. We love all animals but are definatly dog people!!

- we have 4 dogs, a shiba inu named Cody who is 8yrs old and the only boy, and two chihuahua's . Cally is 6yrs and my littly baby and bailey is 1yr old and full of mischief and fun. We just recently adopted Bella, a adorable 7yr old little boston terrier from Oregon Dog Rescue.

CHIHUAHUA'S LOOSING HAIR!!
HI EVERYONE! I HAVE TWO CHIHUAHUA'S AND MY FIVE YEAR OLD SHORT HAIRED CHIHUAHUA APPEARS TO HAVE THINNING HAIR AROUND HER EARS AND THE TOP OF HER HEAD! MY HUSBAND DOESN'T REALLY SEE IT AND SHE WAS JUST AT THE VET AND THEY DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT IT BUT WHEN SHE IS OUTSIDE I CAN CLEARLY SEE A LINE WHERE THE HAIR ON HER HEAD IS THINNER! I AM WONDERING IF I SHOULD BE CONCERNED?? I AM GOING TO TAKE HER BACK TO THE VET JUST FOR PEACE OF MIND BUT HAS ANYONE EVER EXPIERNCED THIS TYPE OF THING? ANY IDE… Continue

I shared your email with ODR and I am glad you are all doing well...fantastic about the baby...you and Sean will be great parents. I have been invited to particpate in another organization but right now I am just exploring what is out there. My focus has always been about doing what's best for the dogs and matching the right dog with the right person. How the organization is run will be an important part of my decision. ODR has another volunteer in charge of all marketing, promotion, media, etc. but since I was the only one who particpated in pdx not sure what they will do in the future..

I have 2 fenced yards and lots of room for them to play! Second thing is the hair loss on your Chi. Lucinda, my black Chi has lost a lot of her hair over the years. She's six now, and this started at about two. I have come to love her little bald body; the skin on her chest is SO soft! Anyway, there seems to be some evidence that Melatonin promotes hair growth in dogs. I tried this for a while and had some success. Finally I just gave in and let her be the bald beauty she is.

- Did the vet tell you that the top proteins dogs are allergic to are chicken, corn, wheat and soy? I have tricks (natural trial)for the other allergies to, like fleas and pollen. I worked for a "skin specialist" and I watched him rip people off left and right when it was a simple food trial or using LOCALLY grown honey as apposed to the pollen injections from plants indigenous to Texas? That's where most pollen shots come from?. Fleas can be naturally taken care of too. This is what I live for, helping people regardless if I make money or not, I guess one just followed the other. LOL I never prescribe only recommend. If that's ok.

- I have seen this hair loss a million times on chiWOWAs and on min pins. May want to try a hair follicle stimulator like surbalux (sp?), but that's a prescription shampoo and you cannot get it in the eyes...so ask you vet. Massage is supposed to open up and stimulate as well. But mostly this is genetic and you will just have to get cute hats! They say that it may be caused by too much protein, I usually have my dogs off puppy food after 6 months of age, it's not good for joints. My great Dane was never on puppy, (it was his breeder's warning.)

Also, did the vet do a skin scrape? There are a couple types of skin mites and also ringworm that can cause alopecia (thinning hair). Good luck!
