Frontline flea drops OR organic natural solution?

I've been using Frontline on Hamish for a year. Every month when it's time to put it on him, he runs, which I found odd because he never runs away--he's happy with everything pretty much. This last time I applied it, I accidentally splashed some drops on my hand and it BURNED. Then I thought, "well no wonder Hamish hates it." So then I did some digging on the internet about the drops and how potentially dangerous that stuff is being a pesticide and all. Stupidly I always just thought that the vet sells it, so it must be fine (silly assumption I know). Just wondering what other people's thoughts were on the subject. And also if anybody has a good herbal/organic solution for flea prevention? I'm retiring the Frontline!!

When I was at the vet this week, I saw a flyer for something called Comfortis (or Comfortix maybe). Apparently it's new and is a bacteria that is all-natural (it's ingested instead of applied topically) so has no adverse affects. I was tempted to try it instead of Frontline, but apparently it is only for fleas, no ticks.

Hi Hamish,
I am so glad you are losing the Frontline! Go to 'Hollistic and Wellness' group... under discussions hit 'view all' there is a topic there 'flea control'... lots of members commented on some great alternatives to otc medications from the vet.
Good Luck!

My dog runs too when the frontline comes out...I never really thought much about this, because she hates bath time too and runs to bed when its bath time as well. But that makes sense...I too, would like to know about natural remedies that ACTUALLY work.
