I just wanted to start a thread about vizsla rescue. I recently became the chair of a committee dedicated to rescuing, fostering and adopting vizslas here in Oregon, on behalf of the Trail's End Vizsla Club of Oregon or TEVCO. (www.tevco.org)
I am trying to create and maintain a foster and adoption network, so if you, or someone you know, would feel comfortable getting involved let me know.
Basically, this would entail possibly fostering a vizsla until it can be adopted, volunteering travel or other resources, or hopefully adopting a vizsla. An application fee and non-invasive home inspection are mandatory too.
Don't let that scare you off. Owning a vizsla is one of the finest experiences a dog owner can have. They are without a doubt one of the most loveable of the breeds.
Hi Piotr -- Do you know Penny Fenton over in Boise? She's with Idaho/Utah Vizsla Rescue. Don't know a lot of vizsla folks in Oregon, but do know one or two in WA.
I haven't yet had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Fenton in person, but we have had a chance to get aquainted via email during a recent foster placement. Feel free to stop by the store sometime and chat, or checkout www.tevco.org!
Thanks guys -- I'm a "cattle dog" person myself, but am willing to help evaluate & transport most any breed. I do like the vizslas -- my husband goes over to the Boise area about once a month, so any transports that are needed in that direction we can help with -- but they have to be real simple w/ people at both ends to facilitate things -- he's usually on a specific schedule & he's not a "dog person" ;-)
