- Moved to Portland about 6 years ago. Have a love for most any animals - but keep it to a manageable one dog and one cat home at this time.

- Mini long-haired Dachshund - though she thinks she is a big dog. She has gone on many hikes with many - as long as 14 miles - with those little legs.

- From Andrea, as Zoe and I had shopped at Pearl Retriever before, and Zoe was a calendar dog in "Pups of Portland 2007"!

- Had to find someone to come while I was at work and briefly help Zoe with some rehab while recovering from back surgery. Tailblazers (Christine & Becky) have been great- a dog walking and pet-sitting service! (tailblazerspdx.com)

I'm sorry to hear about the herniated disks and the surgery Zoe's had to go through. How long ago was her surgery? I've worked in veterinary rehab and physical therapy for about 4 years, and I've work with many dachshunds -- all varieties and ages, with all different degrees of problems. (I am also a canine massage therapist and work with a veterinary acupuncturist.) There is SO MUCH you can do to help with her rehabilitation! My own dog, a Bernese Mountain Dog (the one in the picture on my page -- he's in the underwater treadmill with me) had back surgery, and that's how I got involved in canine physical therapy and rehab. I am sorry to hear about your hardships.... It always seems to come all at once... Let me know when you are up and running. The coats in your slide show look great! And of course, my best wishes to Zoe and your family.
