Profile

About Me: It's fun to know our members a little bit.
Hello! I am Sandra, married to Mike (31+ years), and mother to Colin (24), Kyle (23) and new daughter-in-law Mirana, & Brittany (20); and yes, we are empty nesters - I love it and hate it! We enjoy our cabin on the Zigzag River (foothills of Mt. Hood), and traveling (as a family, or just hubby and I). Photography is a passion - but especially underwater photography (but only in warm tropical water with the bright fishes!), and I’m a bit of a computer geekette. I keep myself busy with some volunteer work, my dogs and puppies, going to dog shows, and dog and social club functions. I have been a breeder for 30+ years, and show my Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. I belong to several dog clubs, a local Red Hat group, and a garden club, and enjoy the monthly “play day” downtown at Urban Fauna with other Cavaliers and their owners (when I can get there).
What Kind of Dog(s) Do You Have? What are their name(s)? It's nice to know.
I have Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and one ancient Labrador retriever. Let see, discounting the dogs stolen by children gone off to college, or the dog left behind by a child going off to college, the average herd around here is: Kippy the Labra-dog, Tilly, Phoebe, JoJo, Tater and baby Birdie the Cavaliers, and I have a litter of puppies right now - see the picture! We also have a 150 gallon aquarium, and a small African Parrot (very respected by the dogs!).
Why Did You Join This Network? This helps us meet needs and understand expectations.
I like the idea of supporting and being a part of the greater Portland-area dog community. I am a community liaison & information person for one of the regional specialty (one breed) clubs, and hope to be able to learn about the doggie-goings-on in our metro area.
How Did You Hear About pdxdog.com and this Social Network? We want to know how you found us.
From Barbara Roach (Barbara and Ruby); she knows I am "doggie" and thought I might enjoy the group!

Favorite Dog Product(s)
I have several! Chris Christensen makes awesome pin brushes (rounded ends, not sharp) and grooming products - especially important for those of us who take dogs into the show ring. I also love the 'flavorful' BioGroom shampoos (honey, peach, yum!). Kangaroo leather leads and collars are great for everyday wear as well as the show ring. PetCo (in LO on State St) has some really cool dog tags! And I guess I should mention that I can't imagine not having micro-chips for the dogs! And I really need to add that I am a big fan of Cindy's Bone Jour GourMutt bakery here in West Linn - http://www.bonejourdogbakery.com - she makes the best treats and has some wonderful must-have items in her shop.
Have you read the Community Guidelines and Terms of Use in the Notes Section? This is very important to us all.
Yes, I have!

Hey Sandra,
Yes you can help out and put some information of the pdxdog table. I left a longer response under the group. Thanks so much for the Raffle item. Daryn White at the Monaco is taking all those in at the hotel.

Hi Sandra,
Your dogs are absolutly adorable! Ive been admiring cavaliers for a while and i think they sound like the perfect type of dog for me and a good playmate for my puppy.

Im really excited to see that you are an experienced breeder and Im glad that i found you on here because I want to make sure that whenever i get another dog it is from a responsible breeder and not a puppy mill, and sometimes its hard to tell when you just look at someones website online.

It will probably be atleast a year or two before Im ready to get another puppy, but im glad to have you as a contact and I would love to meet you and your dogs sometime.

My only concern about getting a cavalier is that my puppy only weighs 3 1/2 pounds. I was wondering if you think that would be a problem seeing as cavaliers tend to be quite a bit larger, do they tend to be gentel when they play with smaller dogs?

Heya Lindsay;

Cool is right, I have a swimming pool.... Well, okay, it's a kiddie wading pool, but you'd be welcome to join the puppies in it! So contact me, we'll figure out a time to visit... CavalierAttitude -at- comcast.net (just change it to the right syntax so it'll go through - have to be so careful of the email harvesting bots, sigh)

Molly & Muffett;

The dogs had fun - although Darth Tater did take his sweet time feeling brave enough to venture around. Your lap was a fave spot for him, obviously you are safe. Oh, and comfy!!

Hi Lindsay;

I'm not entered at Canby, but will probably be there to socialize and shop! JoJo still hasn't grown back the ear feathering that the puppies and Tater have chewed off... So after he has pretty ears again I'll special him, until then he's just at home being a dawg. But, while I'd love to connect with you at the show, you'd be very welcome to come visit my guys at home - we love visitors!

Are you by any chance going to be at the Canby show on the 21st and 22nd? I hate to admit it, but I previously didn't think much of cavaliers, but yours are just to freaking cute! I would love to see one of them in person!

Hi Sandra. Your dogs are adorable! I don't think there is anything in the world cuter than a Cavalier puppy. I do go to the first Sunday Cavalier group, but unfortunately will not be able to make it to this month's get together. I'll look forward to seeing you guys at July's group!
