Profile

About Me: It's fun to know our members a little bit.
I am an animal nurse, all breed groomer, dog trainer, canine behaviorist and a dog food specialist. I have over 20 plus years in the professional animal care field. I went to college to further my education with dogs and with my two animal care facilities I hope to start my training rescue camp for teenagers of all economic backgrounds. With the camp I hope to educate a younger generation about the realities of animal care and create a sense of empathy and responsibility for all living things. In return we can send back the shelter dogs socialized and trained so they can find homes faster. For the longest time I could not figure out my deep obsession of dogs and with my mother's recent passing, all the childhood photographs I found in her belongings were of me with a Border Collie of some sort, I guess my mother had many throughout her lifetime. I also believe that since we, the human race, domesticated dogs and cats, it is up to us to take care of them. I am the luckiest woman in the world, not only do I have a beautiful and healthy family but I have the honor of helping people everyday with their pets. This has always given me a deep sense of fulfillment knowing that I make a difference. But the best thing is that I get to snuggle dogs and cats all day!

Hi Sunday,
I do not see the message you are talking about on the main page.
Can you tell me when it was sent? Anyway, it isn't up there now.

Sunday....
So very sorry I didn't make it Sunday. I got caught up in the middle of an absolute last chance scenario with a rescue dog, and everything slipped my mind until this morning.

There is a shampoo and conditioner called de-shedding. Increase her Omega 3's (salmon and canola oils) in her diet, this helps dry skin and coat. My pekes don't shed. Is she a mix? De-shedding tools will break off the coat, it actually cuts the coat out. If your going to do that you might as well get a summer cut. She'll look like a pug with a squirrel tail (if you want). Now, there is a rake type brush that if you brush upward (getting to the undercoat) should remove a lot of extra hair.
Hope that helps

Sunday!
Great pictures, like a whole family ( human and canine) of models, WOW!!
so, you too, have a Peke! Can you give me advice on what I am assuming is a season 'coat blowing'? Her coat is GONE, and the shedding is driving me NUTS, it's been going on about 8 weeks now, I've actaully bought a new dog-hair vacuum and a Furminator brush( cat size). Thanks for all your help!

Hey Sunday! Sorry for the delayed response. I've been out at the Working Dog Expo, competing and decoying all weekend. Woo, what a blast! I'm definitely interested. You should private message me and let's get together and chat! I can't wait!

We just moved over on 41st off Johnson Crk, so no cows over here. I do dog 4H at Creature Comforts Pet Store on Mcloughlin on Wednesday nights. We only use postitive reinforcement training, treats and reward based on the good things, no pinch or choke collars with the kids, however they do use choke collar in conformation only, because it's required, but not collar popping, we try and teach the kids to build a relationship with their dogs and not yell or corrected them for the thing they may do wrong. Right now we are working on agility, but we also do obedience, rally and conformation. We also just introduced them to tracking.

Hi Sunday,
Which Milwaukie store? Family Dog does the sign up for the classes for the adopted dogs there. We do 3 group classes on Friday nights and we use Reward based training, teaching a Good Manner's class. I am thinkin about starting a in home puppy set up-training class. Um I don't have any cows, do you know someone in the neighborhood that does?

Hey Sunny,

The ads are in the finishing stages for the putting up. I figure a few days, by early next week. We want the process to be as easy and simple as possible.

There will be a page explaining the different sizes and prices (very fair I believe) and then a page to upload some information and payment, then a page to upload your ad. If you need advertising help, I have a very cool ad agency that will help each member (once) for $50. And you will own the art, etc.

I'm so glad you like this site! FYI, when you want to send me a public message, click on comment back and it will go to my page, or you can always send a message privately through "send a message" under my member photo.

Have a great evening.

Andrea
